A beach clean-up
Jan, one of our members, led a beach clean-up in Zeeland in January 2024.
The Scheldt connects us, and it's under pressure. Together we walk it, study it and look for solutions across borders. Then we take them straight to the decision-makers.
No fee, for 16 to 26 year olds. Travel, bed and meals arranged.
Your ideas go to the people who manage the river.
From three countries and all kinds of backgrounds.
Research, debate and present, in English.
Kayaks, campfires and dinners together.
Three countries, one river. Young people from France, Belgium and the Netherlands, aged 16 to 26. The Scheldt's challenges cross borders: floods, water quality, nature.
Out in the field. A few times a year we walk, sail or kayak the Scheldt and meet the people who manage it.
Free and voluntary. No exams, no prior knowledge needed.
Heard where it counts. Our recommendations go to the International Scheldt Commission, where the three countries work on the river together.
Run by GoodPlanet Belgium, who started the youth parliament with the Agence de l'Eau Artois-Picardie and have run it ever since.

Got an idea of your own? Members started all of these.

Emma made two podcasts about our exchanges with the Sava Youth Parliament from the Balkans, in Ghent (2022) and Zagreb (2023).

In 2021 our logo went onto hand-printed T-shirts and hoodies.

At the commission's big meeting in Tournai, Mathieu, one of our participants, spoke for young people.

Fourteen participants cycled to Ghent's flood defences, met a deputy mayor and a water engineer, and wrote a letter to policymakers.

Three days in Zeeland: the Scheldt game, legal rights for the river and kayaking on the Veerse Meer.

Our second Scheldt walk, along the Maarkebeek and the Zwalm, with a warm local welcome.

For anyone aged 16 to 26 living in France, Belgium or the Netherlands
